Al-Jood Exhibition

Fanar, Qatar Islamic Culture Center is organising an exhibition for Arabic Calligraphy, called Al-Jood Exhibition. Fanar will display thirty calligraphy masterpieces which beautify separate extracts from the Quran, written by famous calligrapher Sabah Al-Arbili. With these works, Sabah is exhibiting his own calligraphy paintings, some of which have won first place in international competitions, along with his works of sculpture.
The initiative and philosophy which lay behind the making of the 'Al-Jood Exhibition', was a result of an attempt to reignite the values of spending for the sake of Allah.

The Artist

All Calligraphy paintings and the sculpture works are the masterpieces of Sabah Al-Arbili, who last year won 7 international awards, and gained first place in all of them. Sabah has a unique style of writing, for a while he adheres to the rules of classical calligraphy. Sabah has a distinctive character. He has the amazing ability to improvise in front of the public, simply and without barriers. giving them a great opportunity to become part of an extraordinary artistic atmosphere.

  • Location

    Katara is the name given to the cultural village in Qatar, it is located between Doha's West Bay and the pearl. It has been soft-opened in October 2010 During Doha Tribeca Film Festival the DTFF[1], and TEDxDoha. Many Qatari organisations have their offices in Katara. These include the Qatari Society for Engineers, Qatar Fine Arts Society, Visual Art Centre, Qatar Photographic Society, Childhood Cultural Centre, Theatre Society and Qatar Music Academy.     An auction to be held on the opening day of the exhibition is considered to be the first aution in Qatar, for Calligraphy work prepared by a global artist, using natural tools, ink and natural handmade paper, guaranteed to endure hundreds of years without change. All of these factors will give an artistic and historic vakue to these calligraphy paintings. Along with the Qur'an's values, these artistic paintings are produced with historic traditions and with the aim of bringing about honest morals.
